SysML v2 has been talked about for a very long time. But when is it finally coming?

Figuratively speaking, the SysML v2 was born in 2014 with the kick-off of the SysML Roadmap Working Group and was in kindergarten until 2017, playing around and trying out different options.

With the SysML v2 RFP in 2017, SysML v2 was enrolled in the SST school. Now she has been taught more and more so that she can later make a valuable contribution to MBSE.

In 2022, the SysML v2 will graduate. The final submission of SysML v2 specification will be submitted to the OMG. This is an important milestone in the life of SysML v2.

After that, if the OMG accepts the final submission, there is still some fine-tuning or training to be done. SysML v2 goes to the Finalization Task Force (FTF) “University” to finally be ready for the MBSE community after 1-2 years.

When SysML v2 is adopted by the OMG in 2022, we will definitely know what is coming. It will then take some time until it is officially published. But time passes quickly and it makes perfect sense to deal with the SysML v2 now and, where possible, already set the first course.
