MBSE4U proudly supports DSI’s 3rd Digital Engineering for Defense Summit

At MBSE4U, we’re committed to accelerating MBSE, which is an important pillar of digital engineering. We’re serving as a media partner for the 3rd Annual Digital Engineering for Defense Summit, hosted by the Defense Strategies Institute (DSI) on June 25–26, 2025 in Washington, DC.

This event brings together leaders from across the DoD, federal government, industry, academia, and other relevant stakeholders to modernize defense engineering and acquisition practices with digital engineering tools, technologies, and processes.

Why This Event Matters

In an era of rapidly evolving threats and rising global complexity, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is embracing digital engineering as a strategic priority. Guided by DoD Instruction 5000.97, digital engineering is now embedded across the entire acquisition and sustainment lifecycle, delivering fastermore efficient, and more integrated capabilities to the warfighter.

The Digital Engineering for Defense Summit offers a deep and timely look into how these mandates are being translated into action — and how MBSE plays a vital role in achieving mission success.

Key Themes of the Summit

As practitioners, educators, and advocates of MBSE, we at MBSE4U are particularly excited about the following discussion themes:

  • Using Digital Tools to Drive Integrated Mission Outcomes
  • Establishing and Scaling Digital Engineering Policies and Practices DoD-wide
  • Accelerating Air Force Acquisitions through Digital Transformation
  • Reinventing Test & Evaluation through Model-Based Approaches
  • Delivering Capabilities with Speed, Precision, and Agility

Each of these themes speaks directly to the challenges and opportunities we regularly cover at MBSE4U — and they reinforce the critical role MBSE plays in the DoD’s digital transformation journey.

Speaker Highlights

The summit will feature a powerful lineup of thought leaders and change-makers, including:

  • Event Moderator: Philomena Zimmerman, SERC/AIRC
  • Elmer L. Roman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Mission Integration, OUSD R&E
  • Lily Arcusa, Director of Engineering and Technical Management Chief Engineer, AFLCMC
